Shareholders

Burra Foods was established in 1991 through a partnership between two brothers, Grant and William Crothers and represented a continuum of investment in Australian dairy manufacturing that began in 1934.

Over three generations of the Crothers family have been active in the manufacturing of specialty cheeses, butter, market milk and table cream processing.

In 2009, Burra Foods entered into a trading partnership between the Crothers family and the Japan based, Itochu Corporation. Itochu Corporation, is a global conglomerate that is listed on the Tokyo stock exchange with a variety of investments in food sourcing and international trade. 

In 2016, Grant Crothers and Itochu Corporation agreed to a new shareholding structure which saw leading international dairy farming company, Inner Mongolia Fuyuan Farming Co Ltd, become the majority shareholder of Burra Foods.
