Life at Burra: Trevor Holland

29 May 2025

At Burra, we foster a workplace where our team thrives. Experience a day in the life of Trevor, our accounts payable officer. Trevor shares his insights and explains why Burra is the perfect place to build a rewarding career and life.

What does the average day look like for you?

My Role as Accounts Payable involves a fairly constant routine each working day. After logging in each morning I would check my in “personal Burra Foods” inbox for anything that may require urgent attention and then my daily calendar for any scheduled meetings, which may be our finance regular morning catch ups on teams as our finance team is quite spread out over the Korumburra plant, the South Melbourne office or if we are working from home that day. I will also keep an eye out for the OH&S meeting as I am the HSR for the Korumburra administration group. Then its time to dive into the generic “accounts” emails, checking the newest for urgent action items and then working through the list, working “hopefully” towards all being processed and ready for payment on time or whatever the request may be. Depending on the time of month my work priorities vary depending upon requirements like monthly milk pays to the farmers or the end of month mass payment run. Outside of these reoccurring tasks there is always something brewing! I can be requested to put together reports, chasing up missing invoices or even training a new team member. It is never boring, regularly challenging and always something to do! That’s how I like to work, busy! But never to busy to take the occasional break, make a cuppa and maybe go for a stroll around the plant to catch up with a few colleges to “chew the fat” as they say!

What do you love about working for Burra?

I have been working for Burra Foods now for over five years and have always enjoyed the work, relationships, the banter and the general casual feel of the business. I have been lucky to have had worked in two very different departments and work environments, both maintenance and finance and have always enjoyed both. The thing that I have enjoyed the most over my journey with Burra is that I have always been trusted to perform whatever the role might be, I have had two great “bosses” as I call them and have always felt supported by their leadership. The other thing I love about working at Burra Foods is the support you get regarding your personal life, sometimes life gets in the way of work and I have felt this has never been an issue and have always received great support from management which of course results in a reciprocal responsibility towards your work expectations. To sum it up for me, I love working at Burra Foods as I always felt supported, never pressured but with solid expectations of duty which ticks all the box’s for me!
